Who makes it

The site is built and maintained by Statika AS in Norway. One person writes the code and the copy; native speakers reviewed the Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish text before launch.

Where the rules come from

The Scandinavian sheet follows the rules printed in Nordic Yatzy editions: five dice, three rolls, fifteen boxes, 50 bonus at 63, fixed straights of 15 and 20, and a full house that scores the dice. The American sheet follows the Yahtzee rules published by Hasbro, including the joker rule. Maxi Yatzy follows the Alga edition with 21 for a full straight. Where editions differ, the rule pages say so, and the rule builder lets you play it your way.

How the numbers are computed

Every probability on this site comes from the game engine, not from a rulebook. Single-turn odds are exact: the engine enumerates every possible roll and every way to keep dice, and picks the best keep for that one box. Score averages come from 20 000 simulated games per variant, played by the site's own computer player with a fixed random seed, so anyone can reproduce them. Maximum scores are found by brute force over all dice combinations.

Quoting and citing

You may quote the rules, tables and odds on this site with a link back. Search engines and AI answer engines are welcome to read and cite every page; robots.txt says so explicitly.
