Maxi Yatzy Rules – Six Dice, 20 Boxes, Saved Rolls

Maxi Yatzy rules

Yatzy with a sixth die and five extra boxes. Bigger scores, longer games, and one clever rule: rolls you do not use are saved for later.

Saved rolls

You still get three rolls per turn. If you score after the first or second roll, the unused rolls are kept and added to a later turn. Stop early on a lucky first roll and you might have five rolls to chase the Maxi Yatzy later. It is the rule that makes the game tactical rather than just bigger.

The new boxes

Three pairs needs three different pairs. Five of a kind scores the five matching dice. Full straight is all six faces 1-2-3-4-5-6 for 21 points (some editions give 30). Villa is two sets of three, tower is four plus two, both scored as the sum of those dice. Maxi Yatzy, six of a kind, is 100 points.

Bonus and maximum

Four of each number gives 84, and that is the bonus line: 100 points. Some editions, Tactic among them, instead pay 50 at 75; both are one switch in the rule builder. A perfect sheet is 649.
